I did hear that VC is definately doing drum duties tomorrow on SNL with Queenn Latiyfa. Maybe after that he'll be back on with Megadeth, then Faith Hill, Michael McDonald, then.... just ridiculous!
Fyi, VC is on the latest Michael McDonald release called "Motown".

This just in, I have been told from a close source that Vinnie 'might' be backing Queen Latifah tomorrow night on SNL.
Her new cd is killer, not sure if Vinnie played on it though.

Update:

I checked and Vinnie shares drum duties with Peter Erskine!

Wow...I heard the cd. It's pretty sweet. Lotta good old classics. Now I gotta see if I can find which ones are peter or vinnie

Herbie Hancock was on keys for the album too!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">You sure? according to a danish interview with Michael McDonald, he used alot of European muscisians on his Motown record. Maybe you're talking about the Motown "2" upcomming release. Michael McDonald is based in Nashville now i think, don't know if VC is sessioning there, but Michael is working with Toni Braxton on Motown 2, and she lives in Hollywood at least of what i've heard. so keep your ears open VC killing on those tunes where the duets are happening? Michael McDonald is one of my favorite singers, it would be more than a dream come true if Vinnie joins up with him, he has a killing live band. His current drummer, Yvette Preyer is a killing vocalist with a deep pocket. I really recommend his new live DVD. just plain great music.

Vinnie is not on the first Motown cd, it's harvey mason, Ricky Lawson and Nicky Shaw, Vinnie 'might' be on the new Motown2 cd coming out on the 26th of October

Queen Latifah was on Letterman this past Monday or Tuesday and she sang one song from the album. Omar Hakim was playing with her and a big band for the bluesy song of which I don't know the title of - sounded great though!

Vinnie has done his share of Nashv sessions as does Greg Mathieson [NTM Dan Huff]. I'm sure there's more to come, AW.

Faith Hill, Keith Urban, John Michael Montgomery, & SheDaisy, etc, have been a few of them...

----------------------------------------

I played an extended gig back in the late 90's at a state fair where McDonald also performed, & so our gtrst, bassist/keybdst, & myself were able to check him out...he had this incredilble live band, w a great drummer [the guy does Nashv stuff too, his name escapes me but it was an Italian or so sounding name...The band arrangements SMOKED, w incredibly deep pocket...musically, 1 of the best live 'pop'/r&b type concerts i've ever seen...alongside the best of 'em.

---------------------------

Dagnabit - i wouldve liked to've seen Omar w QL on Letterman...missed that one.

-------------------------------

Thx for the 'HU,' RW.

George Perilli

He has not worked with Michael in quite sometime, he left LA after the big earthquake of what 91? went to Nashville, was working with Donna Summer (he's on the VH1 special which is on DVD) and did some gigs with Reba. Great player and nice guy!
